Farewell thee, Nerd Herd

Today's post is my sayonara to the beloved (by an unfortunately small cadre of fans) NBC television show, Chuck, which miraculously survived for five seasons before the chopping ax finally fell.

Alas, I will no longer hear the musical stylings of Jeffster, witness the bromance between Casey and Morgan, enjoy the muscle-bound goodness of Captain Awesome, or watch Sarah kicking the latest villain's a##. This was a show that captured the inner life and culture of nerds everywhere; tech nerds, sci-fi nerds, fantasy nerds, et al. It endeared itself to me through it's heart at the center of the clever banter and slick spycraft. The enduring friendship of Chuck and his BFF Morgan and the sweet romance between Chuck and Sarah were what brought this show to life and made it worth watching week after week.

Thank you Josh Schwartz for bringing these characters to our living rooms for five fantastic years...and for giving us nerds a hero to root for. They will be fondly remembered for years to come.

and who could forget this performance during Ellie's childbirth scene -

Nerd Love

I am dedicating my first post on this blog to Chris Hardwick because he is my nerd crush. Not only does he love zombies and Doctor Who as much as I do, but my kid loves him too because he voices Otis on Back at the Barnyard.

You may remember him from his MTV show in the mid 90's "Singled Out' which he co-hosted with Jenny McCarthy and Carmen Electra. Since then he has moved on to bigger and better things.

His podcast "The Nerdist" is free on iTunes and his show of the same name is on BBC America  most Saturday nights. He also hosts "The Talking Dead" on AMC Channel after "The Walking Dead" television show where he usually has a random guest on along with someone associated with the show offering commentary on the night's episode.

He is hilarious and so darn cute...a lethal combination.

Cheers, Stacey
